TWLOHA began in Orlando in 2006, as an attempt to help our friend Renee Yohe. A story was written and "Title" shirts were printed and sold with the goal of paying for Renee's treatment. Central Florida has been our home ever since. In response to the recent tragedy at Orlando's Pulse Night Club, hundreds of counselors are offering grief counseling right now. Because of the ongoing need for counseling in the weeks and months ahead, TWLOHA is proud to give a portion of the proceeds from every shirt sold to funding counseling sessions through Solace Counseling, Zebra Coalition, and the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. In the future, we will continue to dedicate a portion of funds to organizations meeting mental health needs among the LGBTQ community.
It's important to note that LGBTQ youth are 4x more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers. And each episode of LGBTQ victimization, such as physical or verbal harassment or abuse, increases the likelihood of self-harming behavior by 2.5 times on average. Learn more here.
